Iacopo Paolucci Iacopone Grechetto di Todi 2020

Paolucci's 'Iacopone' Bianco is crafted entirely from Grechetto, a grape capable of producing wines that balance power and freshness, and a variety that one may more commonly associate with the nearby Orvieto region. Named both for the name of its maker, but moreover a tribute to Jacopone di Todi, a local friar and author considered to be one of Italy's most important poets of the Middle Ages, these nods to Umbrian history are a common thread from Paolucci, a vigneron who has always looked to the past to inform his methods. Deeply golden and sensually textural, the Iacapone delivers yellow orchard fruit, sweeter green herbs, as well as a notable streak of nutty viscosity. If you have Chardonnay loving friends that just don't seem to be able to kick the nasty habit, this is the kind of wine that you unknowingly place in their glass and wait until the internal (and thankful) fireworks set off, hopefully illuminating a path forward for them while you enjoy your delicious Umbrian juice!
